Are there special policies for properties having a private road? Private roads or streets are acceptable to FHA if the street has an all weather surface that permits emergency vehicles to pass in all types of weather. Also, private streets must be protected by permanent recorded easement (non-exclusive and non-revocable easement without trespass from the property to a public street) or the streets must be owned and maintained by a homeowners association. Shared driveways must also meet these requirements. |
